What is ethinyl estradiol-etonorgestrel?

Ethinyl estradiol and etonorgestrel are estrogen and progestin combination (both female hormones) used for the prevention of pregnancy. It usually comes in the form of a ring which is inserted vaginally for three consecutive weeks, and then removed for seven days.
