Labyrinthitis is an inflammatory condition, caused by bacteria or viruses, that affects the labyrinth in the cochlea and vestibular system of the inner ear. It is characterized by sensorineural hearing loss, vertigo (dizziness), and problems with balance. It may affect one or both ears.
