What is atrial tachycardia?

Atrial tachycardia is a heart rhythm with an elevated rate of electrical impulses being sent from the upper heart to the lower heart. The normal heart rate is considered to be 60 to 100 beats/min, with tachycardia the rate exceeds 100 beats/min.
