Aliskiren is a renin inhibitor that is used to treat high blood pressure. It is also used to treat persistent proteinuria in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus, hypertension, and nephropathy in combination with an ACE inhibitor or angiotensin receptor blocker (ARB).
