What is Extracorporeal Photopheresis (ECP)?

Extracorporeal photopheresis involves the separation of white-blood cells from the blood. The WBCs are then mixed with a psoralen, which makes the T-lymphocytes more sensitive to ultraviolet light. The WBCs are exposed to the UVA which promotes death of the diseased cells.
