What is EDTA Chelation Therapy?

Edetate calcium disodium (CaEDTA) and Edetate disodium (NaEDTA) are chelating agents administered intravenously. CaETDA is used for high blood lead levels and may be useful in poisoning by zinc, manganese, and certain heavy radioisotopes. NaEDTA is used to treat hypercalcemia (elevated calcium).
