Foot drop

What is foot drop?

Foot drop, also called drop foot, is the inability to raise the foot at the ankle. The condition presents as a limp, weak foot that causes difficulty when walking. Foot drop causes the person to lift the afflicted foot high to allow the toes to clear the ground; this is known as steppage gait.
