What is lockjaw (trismus)?

Lockjaw refers to trismus, a pathological condition in which the mouth is held shut by sustained spasm of the jaw muscle. It may be due to inflammation, musculoskeletal joint disorder, and infections. It is often a symptom of tetanus infection.
