What is thyroid nodule?

Thyroid nodules are lumps which commonly arise within an otherwise normal thyroid gland. Most nodules are benign (non-cancerous). Benign causes include hyperplastic colloid goiter, thyroid cysts, thyroiditis, and thyroid adenomas.
