What is Rett syndrome?

Rett syndrome, a neurodevelopmental disorder that affects girls almost exclusively, is characterized by normal early growth and development followed by a slowing of development, distinctive hand movements, slowed brain and head growth, problems with walking, seizures and intellectual disability.
