Rectocele

What is rectocele?

A rectocele occurs when the rectum pushes against and moves the back wall of the vagina. It can occur following damage or weakening of the pelvic muscles, such as from childbirth or aging. If symptoms occur, surgery may be required to repair the rectocele.
