What is metastatic melanoma?

Malignant melanoma is a form of skin cancer that is metastatic when it spreads spreads to another location. Staging is used to identify the extent of the disease. Stages I and II describe local metastases, whereas Stages III and IV describe the presence of local and distant metastases.
