Liver fibrosis

What is liver fibrosis?

Liver fibrosis is the scarring process that represents the liver’s response to injury. Over time the scarring can result in cirrhosis (diseased liver) in which the liver structure is so disrupted that blood flow through the liver and liver function is severely impaired.
