What is iritis?

Iritis is inflammation predominantly located in the iris of the eye. Acute iritis usually responds well to treatment. Chronic iritis can linger for months or longer and may lead to visual impairment. Iritis may be due to an infection, genetic predisposition or an underlying autoimmune condition.
