What is histoplasmosis?

Histoplasmosis is a disease caused when airborne spores of the fungus Histoplasma capsulatum are inhaled into the lungs. The spores of the fungus are often found in soil and becomes airborne when the soil is disturbed. Symptoms include, fever, chills, muscle aches, chest pains, and a dry cough.
