What is cryptococcal pneumonia?

Cryptococcal pneumonia is a fungal infection acquired by inhalation of soil contaminated with the encapsulated yeast Cryptococcus neoformans. Immunocompromised patients are at increased risk for acquiring Cryptococcal pneumonia which may disseminate to the central nervous system.
