What is congenital melanocytic nevus?

Congenital melanocytic nevus is commonly known as a birthmark or mole. It is a cluster of pigmented cells; the size and color of the birthmark should be watched for any changes over time that could indicate possible skin cancer (melanoma). These may occur anywhere on the body,e.g. skin, tongue, eye.
