Myocardial ischemia

What is myocardial ischemia?

The heart muscle requires oxygen and blood in order to pump and circulate oxygenated blood to all parts of the body. When the heart receives a reduced supply of oxygenated blood this is called myocardial ischemia. Chronic conditions such as hypertension may contribute to myocardial ischemia.
