Carotid artery dissection

What is carotid artery dissection?

There are four carotid arteries, two on each side of the neck. They deliver blood from the heart’s main artery(aorta) to the brain. Carotid artery dissection is characterized as a tear in the artery; clot(s) can form and possibly travel to the brain resulting in a stroke.
