What is blepharitis?

Blepharitis is the inflammation of the eyelid margins that may cause redness of the eyes, itching and irritation of the eyelids in one or both eyes. It can happen posteriorly meaning, a dysfunction of meibomian glands within the eyelids, or anteriorly, affecting the outside lid, at the eyelashes.
