Chronic kidney disease

What is chronic kidney disease?

Chronic kidney disease (CKD) occurs when the kidneys fail to adequately filter toxins and waste products from the blood. The most common causes of chronic kidney disease are diabetes and high blood pressure. CKD can progress to complete kidney failure, also called end stage renal disease.
