What is POEMS syndrome?
POEMS stands for: Polyneuropathy (peripheral nerve damage), Organomegaly (enlargement of organs), Endocrinopathy (damage to hormone-producing glands) or Edema, M-protein (antibody) and Skin abnormalities (including hyperpigmentation). At least two of these conditions are needed for POEMS diagnosis.
