What is pleural plaque?
Pleural plaques are benign areas of fibrous thickening on the surface of the lungs. Most often, they do not cause any symptoms. They cannot become cancerous over time. Pleural plaques are most commonly associated with asbestos exposure, but do not appear until 20-30 years after exposure.
