What is myositis ossificans?
Myositis ossificans (MO) is a benign pseudotumor developing in muscles. It develops as a painful, tender, enlarging mass and can sometimes be mistaken for a soft tissue tumor. MO can be caused by trauma but may have no identifiable cause. Treatment is typically surgical removal of the tumor.
