What is hyperprolinemia?
Hyperprolinemia is the build up of proline - a protein building block (amino acid) in the body. The enzyme that normally breaks down proline does not function appropriately. There are two subtypes, Hyperprolinemia Type I (HP-I) and Hyperprolinemia II (HP-II).
