Congenital hepatic fibrosis (CHF) is an inherited condition, affecting your liver and kidneys. The liver is abnormally shaped and is scarred and hardened; the spleen is enlarged and overactive; and there are protruding veins in the gastrointestinal tract (gastroesophageal varices).
