What is cleft palate?
Cleft palate is an opening in the roof of the baby's mouth (palate). Abnormal development occurs during pregnancy, leaving an opening (cleft) in the palate and possibly extending into the nasal cavity. A cleft can form on one side or both sides of the palate.
